Obligatory 5 star. He’s the goat and there’s nothing like this anywhere. Period. Didn’t know about the famous actor who appears halfway through which cranks this thing to 11. Just peak Nathan. Absolute cinema. A documentary like no other (except for other Nathan pieces). A must watch. I only wish it could have been a more interesting/impactful subject because Nathan’s talents are truly one of one.  The GOAT! You must see this.

If you think you don’t need a good director, look no further than Sorkin without Fincher in this movie.  I can’t say I wasn’t excited for this movie, but I honestly had low expectations coming in given the previews. Usually, though, that’s a recipe for it to beat my low expectations. Not in this case. Somehow it was worse.  The movie is so slow for so long, and then too much too quickly all at once and then too slow again. It’s also clearly politically charged and I’m unsure what’s real and what’s dramatized for the narrative, and that just makes you distrust the whole thing as a narrative/agenda being pushed. The irony is that I HATE meta and all their products and properties for probably all the same reasons as the people who made this movie. But talk about lacking nuance. I find myself feeling like I only heard one side of the argument, which is deeply ironic when you think about it.  Also making an hour 50 minute movie in 2026 feel long? Yikes. Overall a major disappointment and I think everyone expected as much, hence the lack of marketing.  Sorry Sorkin, you ain’t all that!

Everything about this movie was bad. I couldn’t believe RP was this awful and KS was highest paid actress in 2012? Wow.  The vampire baseball. The blurry fast movie scenes. The god awful dialogue. The ridiculousness of the plot and fight scenes. The seeding of the next movies with Taylor L.  I almost feel bad for RP. He’s so weird and strange looking in this movie.  Maybe I don’t understand women as much as I thought…or maybe the book was better. But the popularity of this (I’ve heard the subsequent movies are even worse and I’m not sure I plan on watching them) really surprises me.  Would almost definitely not rewatch nor recommend on any level. This was an RP bucket list and nothing else

King Robert at it again! What a performance. I did NOT know how that ended nor the reality of that ending. Insane! Movie itself was really uniquely shot. In that square frame and so much of that 2000’s grain.  Whole cast was stellar, so kudos to everyone.  I’m not sure I really understood the point or interpretation that the director was going for here, and I’m sure that Hansen’s opinion affected this to some extent, but I think the portrayal of him as someone who really believed that what he was doing was a religious cleansing was really well done, and props for such a unique choice of biopic. A24 at it again! This doesn’t feel like a rewatch kinda movie for me? But I love RP so…never say never?

Basically Brad Pitt and his amazing dog cosplaying Outdoor Boys in beautiful Alaska. Plot was pretty boring, but the scenery was gorgeous and the dog was absolutely adorable and an incredible actor. Seriously like why does the dog not have a credit cuz he was so good. I wanted to give this a 3 for the plot but the dog was so good, so it gets a 3.5. Probably wouldn’t watch again but I’d recommend this if you A) like Brad Pitt B) like dogs C) like nature scenery.

Wish I’d like this more, but tbh it just … wasn’t that good. I think Sofia Coppola is…not a good director. Film grain felt weird and didn’t age well, yes it was cool it was shot in Versailles, but it was pure vibes and the vibes were…meh. I’d honestly have preferred something more historical. This was pure vibes and really felt like it glossed over the important parts for the sake of “I’m just a girl” vibes.    Overall, disappointing. Never been a huge Kirsten dunst fan and this didn’t really help? It was fine though. Probably wouldn’t watch again, life is too short lol.

Enjoyed this one more than I was expecting given all my friends reviews I read going in. Thought it was really heartwarming and the message throughout felt quite genuine and unforced. Definitely a bit long and drags at points, but tbh this is so out there for Fincher to do and I couldn’t help but be curious about what was going to happen next the whole time. Also an excellent performance by Brad Pitt (minus that accent that was mid) but one of his better acting performances. Scenes were really well set too, everything felt so well crafted and I was honestly impressed with how well they aged him backwards. Was certainly also intrigued in the ending and tbh I liked it a lot except for the very very end.  Not sure I’d watch again, but definitely a bucket list movie and I’m glad I watched it!

Basically Love, Actually but in 2011 LA and honestly it’s absolutely fantastic. One of my new favorite rom coms and maybe my new favorite Ryan Gosling movie.  Okay fine Ryan Gosling you won me over with this one. When he plays this character (same as Drive and The Big Short) imo is when he’s at his very best and most enjoyable. Maybe it comes most naturally to him? Just speculating…. Anyways. I wonder if this is why they got cast in La La Land together? Anyways, everyone was fantastic (and what a cast I mean Kevin Bacon is a sideshow in this) but hats off Steve Carrell. Proving once again that you’re one of the best actors in the business. Writers did a phenomenal job it was emotional but not too sad and absolutely hilarious at so many good moments. The whole Robbie arc was great comedy throughout.  The ending scene where everything comes together is also absolute cinema and makes for such a climax moment. I almost wish they’d found a way to wrap it up there and it would’ve been a 5/5 for me (felt a bit long towards the end; probably my least favorite part).  All in all, really enjoyable and would absolutely watch again!

So I feel very mixed about this movie. Overall it was enjoyable but very much not for the same reasons I enjoyed the original blade runner.  First of all, Denis is undefeated as a director and the vibe and aesthetic of the city is just so good. No wonder they gave him Dune after this. He really took the step up from the original in that regard, so no complaints about cinematography and lighting.  Story wise, I really thought it was mid and kinda lost the plot a bit compared to the original. I thought his incel vibe with his AI girlfriend felt so meh and honestly I felt nothing when she “died” so it felt very meh. Movie definitely drags at points and it’s long af so while I love the visuals, this got a bit too boring at times.  I’ll admit Ryan Gosling was very well cast for this, he really does feel like a young Harrison Ford. But well cast does not mean he’s a good actor. Still find him only able to do like 3 emotions. Anyways. Soundscape was amazing and contributed to the whole vibe, so also hats off there.  Overall I liked certain parts of this movie a lot and certain parts felt so boring and meh to me. Writers really dropped the ball on this one if you ask me.  Probably wouldn’t watch again? But who knows.

Put this one off for much too long and had medium expectations coming in.  Felt like a Bollywood movie tbh, and I mean that as a compliment.  Costumes, cinematography, lighting especially but every screen is a painting.  Emma stone did a phenomenal job. Ryan gosling was well cast, and did what he always does.  Overall movie was super enjoyable and for a musical like this to not have a predictable plot and still be enjoyable is very impressive.  Huge Damien Chazelle fan and he delivered again on one of the most unique movies I’ve seen in Hollywood in decades. Bravo! Would definitely watch again in the distant future.
