So I feel very mixed about this movie. Overall it was enjoyable but very much not for the same reasons I enjoyed the original blade runner.
First of all, Denis is undefeated as a director and the vibe and aesthetic of the city is just so good. No wonder they gave him Dune after this. He really took the step up from the original in that regard, so no complaints about cinematography and lighting.
Story wise, I really thought it was mid and kinda lost the plot a bit compared to the original. I thought his incel vibe with his AI girlfriend felt so meh and honestly I felt nothing when she “died” so it felt very meh. Movie definitely drags at points and it’s long af so while I love the visuals, this got a bit too boring at times.
I’ll admit Ryan Gosling was very well cast for this, he really does feel like a young Harrison Ford. But well cast does not mean he’s a good actor. Still find him only able to do like 3 emotions. Anyways.
Soundscape was amazing and contributed to the whole vibe, so also hats off there.
Overall I liked certain parts of this movie a lot and certain parts felt so boring and meh to me. Writers really dropped the ball on this one if you ask me.
Probably wouldn’t watch again? But who knows.

Felt like a Bollywood movie tbh, and I mean that as a compliment.
Costumes, cinematography, lighting especially but every screen is a painting.
Emma stone did a phenomenal job. Ryan gosling was well cast, and did what he always does.
Overall movie was super enjoyable and for a musical like this to not have a predictable plot and still be enjoyable is very impressive.
Huge Damien Chazelle fan and he delivered again on one of the most unique movies I’ve seen in Hollywood in decades. Bravo!
Would definitely watch again in the distant future.

Honestly enjoyed the hell out of this movie. It’s rare a movie can hold my attention for almost 3 hours these days (I’m cooked) so this was really impressive and probably the best movie I’ve seen in 2026.
It just felt so damn epic and awesome. All the twitter haters were wrong this is an absolute return to the mountaintop for Nolan after the Tenet stumble and Dunkirk being meh (imo, I know many would disagree).
Some credit is also deserved to everyone involved for retelling such an epic story with so many critics in such an interesting way for modern audiences. I thought that overall the casting and acting was fantastic, the sound mixing was phenomenal, the cinematography was truly outstanding, like scared to blink every scene was so good for 3 hours outstanding.
The story told was also familiar but felt fresh and riveting throughout. You’d think a movie this long drags, but it really doesn’t (with the exception of some of the scenes with Calypso perhaps, but even that’s looking for a fault). Also soundtrack was a bit forgettable to me compared to Interstellar/Inception.
Seeing it in 70mm IMAX was also a great experience, glad I caught the last showing in Seattle for it!
Best actor: Robert Pattinson (my young goat)
Don’t miss this one while it’s still in theaters. Will absolutely rewatch someday. Tbh this made me really wanna rewatch Inception so I can see if this actually is better…
On Letterboxd →Wasn’t what I expected but honestly I’m not sure you can know what to expect going into this unless you’ve watched the TV show.
That said, I’m genuinely impressed at how the f they made this thing. It’s honestly wild and yes it’s kinda corny at times but it’s fun and hilarious and full of random Easter eggs and honestly not that crass/slapstick compared to what I was expecting.
I like Matt Johnson and loved blackberry (not that that has anything to do with this) but this is like a directing masterpiece by comparison.
Genuinely need to watch a YouTube video on how they filmed ts fr.
Great story about friendship in the end though.
On Letterboxd →Not what I expected but all around a heartfelt and feel good movie. Thought the ending act with the dad and the final scene especially felt like what the movie was getting to. My only criticism could really be of the time mechanism and some aspects of it that bothered me, but realistically getting lost on that point is dumb for this movie.
I’m also a big love, actually fan and while this wasn’t what I expected going in, I can see how they’re directed by the same guy and it’s a pretty lighthearted one through lots of it. Definitely will make you feel all the emotions, but nothing too strongly.
Would recommend! Cast all did great.

On Letterboxd →Actually enjoyed this one more than I was expecting. Dialogue was just as good as the second if not better and the setting was beautiful and it felt pretty honest. Caught me off guard when act 3 started but I loved it.
Would definitely marathon these three movies again having now seen them all.

On Letterboxd →Honestly a really enjoyable western. You genuinely are kept guessing what’s happening the whole movie. Russel Crowe plays his character so well and the evolution of all the characters the whole movie is amazing. Modern westerns are usually trash but this is the rare exception. Genuinely such a good story and absolutely loaded cast. Would 100% rewatch.

Conspiracy so good I had to immediately go ask Fable how accurate it was. I’ve been to the building in Dallas and seen the grassy knoll and honestly it took me way too long to watch this one (mostly cuz of the runtime) but goddamn this was the best conspiracy theory fuel movie I’ve ever seen.
There are some obvious moments which basically set up the whole plot for you (convo with X) and then it’s just like “look over here at all these strange things” but unfortunately this is just an incredibly well assembled movie that is about a real historical moment that is not at all rooted in fact.
Absolutely riveting though. Movie is loaded with famous people I was shocked honestly and it was so entertaining I couldn’t believe it was above 3 hours I was more engaged than I’ve been in some 90 minutes movies. Kevin Costner this might be your best work also, hats off.
I like Oliver stone, I think directing did everything it needed to do and I like that his style is this historical stuff.
Overall, great movie would highly recommend if you have 3 hours to kill and you like conspiracy theories.

Don’t remember how this made it to my watch list but I like Martin sheen and this one had a weird premise from a director I’m still unconvinced of since I hated Knight of Cups.
Overall I’d say I enjoyed this a lot more and I can see why Malick gets credit for amazing shots throughout the movie. It’s gorgeously shot and really engaging throughout the whole journey.
That said, the characters feel so fake and bizarre I can’t tell if it’s just a 70s movie trying to represent 50s people or the weird writing.
That said it was on some weird shit when they were just running around like 5 stars on GTA through the woods and plains I just enjoyed the vibes of it.
Of course the age gap thing makes it all a bit weird but I guess we’ll excuse that in this case.
As far as acting goes, both of them do phenomenal jobs.
For me though Martin sheen as a James Dean clone playing a trigger happy greaser running through the badlands is what makes this movie good not bad. Martin carried so hard and he had so much aura the whole time all the way to the ending which was honestly great.
Still need to watch Days of Heaven to decide my feelings on Malick as a director, but tbh I’m unconvinced and Martin Sheen carries.

On Letterboxd →Overall I’d say this was more enjoyable than I was expecting but it was also not the cheesy rom com I was expecting at all. Put off watching this for years but I like JGL and finally was in the mood.
Overall I think it’s objectively a really good movie with some really emotional moments. I think the message was actually really well done and the scene of day 488 at the end honestly really got me mad brought the whole thing full circle.
The expectations vs reality scene is pretty iconic and I really thought it was powerful, though it didn’t hit me the way I thought it would.
Great music and good writing.
Overall it was a really strong message and had a great ending so I’d say I’d absolutely rewatch this one and I think I may even enjoy it a lot more on rewatch.
